Ruin which was originally founded in Kuusankoski Finland but nowadays has moved to Kouvola/Lahti area took its first steps in the beginning of 2004. But when drummer Teppo Ristola and bass player Tomi Suokas joined the band in the beginning of 2005 things started to work much better. Also the name Ruin was invented at that time.
The final piece found its place in the beginning of 2006 when singer Toni Kukkola joined the band. In march 2006 the band recorded its first demotape called “Ruined Up”. Before most of the members went off to do their military services in july 2006 the band recorded two new songs which were released mainly in internet. The army took year from bands life but few gigs were still played and new songs were written. In december 2007 Ruin headed to the studio and EP “Scorched Nation” was born.
It`s quite hard to describe Ruins music because the variety of favourite artists among band members is so big and this also reflects in songwriting. But you could say that the music is a mixture of crunchy vocals and thrashy riffs without forgetting the melody.
This may not sound the most unique combination but there`s also this “Ruins” approach of making music and doing things in general. But the best way of getting the idea of bands music is to hear it yourself... buy demos and come to see liveshows!
